The Australian School of Meditation and Yoga (Gold Coast and Brisbane) are each offering a whole day of free Yoga, Relaxation and Meditation to everyone.

The Australian School of Meditation & Yoga (ASMY) and the GCCC will again be having a whole day of free classes and workshops to promote the wonderful benefits of yoga. The event was so successful in 2008 and 2009 that in 2010 we are again holding the day at Albert Waterways Community Centre, a large community hall behind Pacific Fair.
This Free Yoga Day gives the community an opportunity to enjoy some gentle stretching, breathing and relaxing, whilst accessing the many benefits of Yoga for the mind, body and soul. This is a chance for many in the community to try Yoga for the first time, for others to return to Yoga and for regular practitioners to try a different style of Yoga.

Come for the hour or come all day. Classes and events on the hour.
9.00am – Hatha Yoga: Yoga asanas to stretch and strengthen your body, breathing exercises to calm your mind and meditation to uplift your heart.
10.00am – Deep Peace Meditation & Kirtan: Fully guided breathing, relaxation, meditation and kirtan to transport you to a place of pure relaxation of mind, body and heart.
11.00am – Hatha Yoga (Energy Flow): Dynamic, flowing yoga and breathing to increase energy, health and vitality.
12.00pm – Yoga Lifestyle Talk and Lunch: Hear insights from a 30 year yoga practitioner and inspirational speaker and enjoy a light vegetarian lunch with the teachers of ASMY.
1:00pm – Indian Head Massage workshop with notes: – Learn to give and receive an indulgent Indian Head Massage. Experience tension melting away leaving you feeling relaxed, refreshed and radiant.
2.00pm – Stretch and Relax: – Easy stretching combined with deep relaxation and meditation. Free the body then calm the mind.
3:00 – Yoga Home Practice Workshop with notes: Learn a simple yoga sequence you can practice daily in your own home. Ask questions about your practice as our senior yoga teacher shares her love and knowledge of yoga, gained over 30 years of teaching and practice.
4:00pm – Kirtan: Beautiful, melodious, singing meditation that lifts the spirit and brings joy to the heart. A group meditation to be a part of and enjoy.
4:30pm – Meditation: Calm the mind and gain greater insights and inner peacefulness using yoga breathing, mindfulness meditation and sacred mantras.
5:00pm – Finding Complete Happiness: An inspiring talk from the timeless wisdom of the yoga texts. The teachings of yoga are as meaningful and relevant to us today, as they were 5000 years ago.
5:30pm – Delicious vegetarian dinner: Enjoy a tasty vegetarian dinner; for those of you new to vegetarian food, it’s hard to believe a simple combination of nourishing vegetables, grains and spices can taste so delicious.
6:00pm – Kirtan Celebration: Uplifting, joyous, heartfelt music and singing. Set yourself free and feel completely alive with mantras, music and dance. The perfect end to a perfect day

We are throwing open our doors and offering a whole day of Yoga and Meditation to everyone Free of Charge! We invite you to share with us the wonderful benefits of yoga, relaxation and meditation. This is a day for people to experience the ancient science of Yoga which perfectly combines strength, stamina and flexibility with a tranquil mind and inner peacefulness. It is for people of all ages and levels of fitness and is beneficial on a physical, mental and spiritual level.

8.00am – Hatha Flow Yoga: – 60 minutes of dynamic flowing yoga and breathing to increase your energy, health and vitality.
9.00am – Kirtan: This relaxing meditation session is a great way to start the day. With beautiful singing of sacred mantras you will emerge feeling refreshed as if you have stepped under a clean mountain waterfall.
9.30am – Indian Head Massage: In this workshop you will learn to give and receive an indulgent Indian head massage. Experience tension melting away, leaving you feeling relaxed, refreshed and radiant.
10.30am – Refresh & Relax: Fully guided breathing, relaxation and meditation that will transport you to a place of pure relaxation of mind, body and heart.
11.15am – Chi Kung: Chi Kung (Qigong) is an ancient Chinese system that includes movement and breathing techniques which help to balance the flow of chi through the energy pathways (meridians) and helps the body achieve and maintain better health.
12.15pm – Kirtan: Uplifting singing of sacred mantras. Simple and beautiful. Everyone can join in and experience inner peace and happiness
1.00pm – Delicious vegetarian lunch: Enjoy an Indian style lunch with the teachers of ASMY and discover simple ways to incorporate a healthy yoga lifestyle into your life.
2.00pm – Ayurvedic Cooking Demonstration: – Learn to cook some simple and nutritious traditional Ayurvedic dishes which are suitable for all body types and will help to bring about balance in your body. This dish is designed to increase your energy and aid the digestive system.
2.30pm – Hatha Yoga: This class will help increase your flexibility, strength and muscle tone. A traditional Hatha yoga class to help you unwind, relax and let go of built up tension. The stretching will help to relieve your body, the breathing exercises will calm your mind and the meditation will help you to find inner peace.
4.00pm – Please join us for our Sunday Spiritual Gathering: Great music, Kirtan delicious meal, insights from yoga philosophy
Beautiful kirtan, guided meditation, a fantastic vegetarian dinner and an inspiring talk that explores the spiritual essence of yoga.
