Amara

“I have resided on the Gold Coast since 1991 and actively participate in my community in a number of ways. I have grown up in a small intimate family, with one brother and an amazing mum that has supported me through lifes ups and downs. Throughout my years on the Gold Coast I have created strong bonds with an array of organisations, everything from Little Athletics to neighbourhood centres.

I discovered yoga several years ago when I was searching for a form of exercise that took a holistic approach to physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. I benefit from my hatha yoga practice because it teaches me to be patient, introspective and listen to and respect my body and its limitations. My body feels healthier, full of vigour and tension free, my mind is calmer and more focussed which assists with everything in my life from study to sleep. I feel nourished and an increasing sense of peace and balance in my life.

I am striving towards combining my Human Service and Criminology degree with the time tested arts of yoga and meditation to bring a sense of balance into my work in the corporate and community spheres."
