Tofish

If you like sushi, this is the dish for you. Slices of tofu are dipped in soy sauce, wrapped in nori and then battered and deep-fried into crispy, mouth-watering delights. Serve them with lemon wedges for a delicious, healthy alternative to battered fish.
Tofish
Ingredients
- 750g block firm tofu
- 3 – 4 sheets of seaweed nori(each sheet cut into thirds)
- 1/4 c soy sauce or tamari
- 1 cup self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- Enough water to make a thick batter
- Oil or ghee for deep frying
Method
- Mix flour, salt, turmeric and water (a little at a time) together to make a nice thickish batter.
- Set aside.
- Cut tofu into slices (approx.10) and dip in soy sauce.
- Wrap in seaweed and re-dip in soy sauce.
- Coat wrapped tofu slices in batter and deep fry until golden brown.
- Serve with lemon wedges, chips and salad
