Namaste, welcome to the meditation and yoga centre at Mermaid Beach. You’ll find it easy to relax and unwind in our vibrant, comfortable, air conditioned yoga/meditation space. In addition to our regular hatha yoga, meditation and relaxation classes, we also offer an inspiring Sunday Spiritual Gathering at Burleigh Heads, Balanced Life retreats, vegetarian cooking classes and Mantra Rock Dances.

Look out for a white double door and bright yellow curtains that open up to a stairway leading to a comfortable and tranquil yoga and meditation studio. The centre is at the northern end of the shops, in between a second hand record store and a coffee shop.

ASMY Mermaid Beach Weekly Programme

Sacred Kirtan: A mellow spiritual gathering

Immerse yourself in a beautiful evening of heartfelt chanting and music interwoven with guided meditation, yoga breathing and spiritual insights from sacred yoga texts, followed by chai and sweets.

All voices are welcome. No need to book.

Kirtan is a participatory music experience of sacred mantras and devotional chants performed in a call and response style which involves the audience. These transcendental sound vibrations bring about a state of inner peace and spiritual happiness and are greatly conducive for developing compassion, kindness and inner wisdom.

What to expect: The evening of Kirtan begins at 6:00pm. You can sit on a cushion or a chair. Hand outs are provided so it is easy to follow along and join in when you feel comfortable. Wear whatever you will feel comfortable sitting in and something to keep you warm.

What to bring: Just your enthusiasm and participation! If you like you can bring a musical instrument and donations are always welcome.

When: Every Friday 6.00-8.00pm.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga classes increase flexibility, strengthen and tone muscles, balance hormones, cleanse and flush all the internal systems of the body, calm the mind and reduce stress. Classes include meditation,relaxation and kirtan.

Hatha Yoga: Easy

Gentle streching and breathing for every body. In this class you’ll gently loosen stiff joints and ease out aching muscles while soothing the nervous system and calming the mind. Classes include kirtan, meditation and relaxation.

Hatha Yoga: By Donation!

A teacher trainee class that is fully supervised by a qualified yoga teacher.
When: Every Thursday 6.00 pm – 7.00 pm

Class fees:

* Casual: $12
* 5 Class pass valid 2 months: $50
* 10 Class pass valid 3 months: $85
* Unlimited classes valid 1 month: $80
* Pensioners and students: $5 per class

No Bookings Required. Bring a towel and yoga mat. Yoga mats can be purchased at the Mermaid Beach yoga centre.

Hatha Yoga: Outdoors Class

For all of you who wake up early, keen to start the day on a positive note, this class is specially for you. An outdoor class consisting of a blend of flowing asanas, meditation and relaxation in a beautiful, natural outdoor setting with fresh ocean air and early morning sunshine. You’ll wake up your mind, invigorate your body and feel absolutely fantastic. Try this class and experience the difference it brings to your day.

Free Community Class. Please bring a yoga mat. No class in wet weather.

Stretch & Relax

This class features half an hour of gentle stretching followed by half an hour of relaxation, helping to relieve tension in the body and the mind. You will leave feeling alive and with a sense of peace and inner calm.

Cost: $5.00. Please bring a yoga mat or a towel. No need to book.
Yoga mats can be purchased at the Mermaid Beach yoga centre.

Deep Peace Meditation

Experience the deeply relaxing and restorative effect of yoga relaxation and mantra meditation. These ancient yoga practices can help you overcome stress and anxieties, help relieve tension and calm the mind. This is 45 minutes of bliss. It feels wonderful and helps you to experience perfect rest and recuperation. This class will transport you to a place of pure relaxation of mind, body and heart.

Sunday Spiritual Gathering

Meditation for self-realisation. Beautiful kirtan (chanting of sacred mantras), guided meditation, a fantastic vegetarian dinner and an inspiring talk that explores the spiritual essence of yoga.

Discover Meditation Courses - Mermaid Beach
